Valentines Part Two

I painted this charming illustration about a week ago.  I'm a tireless romantic when it comes to biking.  Nothing beats the feeling of getting in the saddle and riding away with another person pedaling fiercely by your side.  Picnic packed, a bottle of wine stowed away, jetting down to the river to watch the sun set behind the hills.  Isn't it great?  This particular scene loosely portrays the Portland waterfront with the sun going down behind Mount Hood, which is completely and totally geographically inaccurate.  But oh well, that's what dreams and paints are for.   One of my favorite parts about this piece is the nostalgic feeling it produces inside of me.  I could almost see the couple as an older version of me and some lucky handsome gentleman.  Who knows.  Maybe it's you!
I made a greeting card to go with this as well:
I love how it turned out.  It's like a tiny piece of art.  Totally frame-able, I don't judge.
The inside says, "you and me, (that's all I need)."  That, and this thermos, that's all I need (shameless reference to "The Jerk").  You can get this pretty card in my etsy shop.  I'll be putting up some prints as well, if you're interested!  And don't forget all the other neat additional products in my Society6 shop.   Check it out, if you fancy.

I'm also really excited to show you my new mini Valentines!
I can't remember a single year that went by, when I was just a bitty thing, when I didn't tremble with excitement over Valentines like these.  We bought ours from the grocery store. They usually depicted some cartoon character of popularity or a princess or a fuzzy kitten.  Then we'd rip the boxes open and excitedly scribble names on the backs of the flimsy cards.  I remember my heart beating loudly in my chest as I picked the most special one for whatever boy I was crushing on at the time.  I'd rush over to his desk and drop it in the heart shaped pouch he'd constructed out of colored butcher paper.   Then I'd run for the hills with my face as red as a tomato.  I was really good at losing my cool back then (if I'd had any in the first place).  I guess the years have treated me well, in that respect. (Enter audience laughter).  In an attempt to recapture that schoolgirl crush feeling, that rush of excitement, I created these innocent little Valentines:

There are 4 designs:

Each pack of cards comes with 3 of each design and 12 matching envelops.  You can find them here in my etsy shop.  Get some for your kids, your coworkers, that cute guy that works the fryer at your local diner!  Whoever you fancy, wink wink.  My favorite is the pig in the boat.  I have a soft spot for anything nautical.  Which is your favorite?

I'm going to leave you with a really nice song.   Close your eyes and just let it fill you up.

    1. Psyche Knits, you should totally start watercoloring! I taught myself how to do it. The best part about watercolors is that they're essentially very inexpensive. So if you don't have to spend much in order to experiment with them. Give it a shot, I think you'll love it.

  6. I am picking out a thermos for you!
Not an ordinary thermos will do!
The cards are like ice cream: I cannot pick a favorite, but that shan't stop me from ordering some. Brava, once again, B!
